'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the dramatic dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The game ended with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear amid the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative effort from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess quickly slammed home the rebound before racing off toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with the crowd swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

This capped an incredible comeback given the team had trailed 2-0 midway through the second half. During the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

That win secured a upcoming game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's volley from about way out going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that far out," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way Orient attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the basics and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It appears that they always find their target and they understand how to manage and neutralize a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be alert every second of the game. It takes a tough attitude and attention just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a popular figure across a couple of years at Orient and has swiftly done the same in Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was likely a slightly green going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without real physicality. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that development for both domestically and internationally, shining for his national side, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the last several matches, including home and away encounters against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Starting Out

This represents quite the ride for the kid from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's single match for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an plastic turf and the arena covering was closed owing to conditions of -15C. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he comments, grinning. "The days leading up, the academy prospects trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "This turned out fairly simple, because I reached the point where I understood I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I believed I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, the drivers, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to spend time with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and driving. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Public Engagement

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on the Tube after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
