Two Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
